Wash the leaves, petals, stems and seeds thoroughly with cool water to remove any dirt or insects.
Cut off and discard about an inch from each end of the stem.
Chop up all parts as fine as possible using a knife. You can use a food processor if available but it's not required (find chopping ensures that more of the herb is infused into your drink).
Boil water in a saucepan, and then add your chopped Echinacea.
Bring to boiling point again, and let simmer for about 10 minutes or longer if you prefer. The tea should be light brown in color when ready.
Pour through a fine strainer into another pot while still hot.
