Unlike the Marigolds of the Tagetes family, the Marigold known as Calendula has been used for medicinal purposes.
In an article by Khulood M. Alsaraf,4 a study found that marigold flowers and leaves can be used as the main ingredient in the preparation of topical agents for the treatment of burns, cuts, rashes, acne, eczema, psoriasis and other skin diseases.
Calendula petals can be dried and infused with olive oil or coconut oil to alleviate pain and assist in healing some skin-related conditions. Taken internally, it may sooth some digestive issues.
